it took her some time to get fully used to wearing an uniform and flashing a badge every time she wanted to achieve some authority. she was so used to simply pulling the revolver out and pointing it towards someone's head, demanding answers and demanding submission. police force was entirely different from her work in the past. so different from military where it was really just about survival no matter the cost. and even more different from the incorporation she worked for previously. black ops were a good employer, until they decided they didn't trust her anymore and wanted to follow her around constantly. she didn't like to be bossed around and be forced to tip toe around everyone. so she left one for another. and now she had to work the night shifts, socialize with co-workers and be a good little cop. don't use violence, don't use force, be intimidating but not terrifying, get your answers the right way... the list was endless. she was still learning and so far in the last two weeks she slipped on more than just one occasion. right now she felt like slipping again. so far she got a weird feeling while walking down the street. she wasn’t in her uniform, yet she carried a gun with her at all times. just in case. but someone was following her, of that she was sure. someone that followed people like a pro. if it weren’t for years of military training and years with black ops, she would never figure it out. the last few minutes that someone disappeared but he or she couldn’t be very far. it didn’t scare her, it just drove her crazy and she desperately wanted that person to make an appearance quickly. she reached the corner of an old building covered with graffiti, walking under narrow pillar arcades. her hand was on her gun. and then there was a gun in front of her, just out of nowhere. she stared straight into the muzzle of the gun, her stance not giving anything away. ‘’you’re good.’’

her lips slightly twitched at the sound of his oh-so-serious voice. she needed to remind herself that this wasn’t actually a game or a part of some training exercises. someone actually followed her around and now crossed her path with his gun pointing into her face. and he said ‘freeze’? this was just hilarious. shouldn’t she be the one bossing him around. but her gun was raised high and she felt no need to flaunt her badge around. who cared is she was a cop? the guy could blow her head off in a matter of seconds and no one would really give a damn. ‘’I’m sorry darling, but unfortunately for you I don’t like to freeze and sit tight while someone is pointing a gun into my face,’’ she finally looked away from the muzzle up to his face. it was glowing with precise determination. ‘’drop yours,’’ she shrugged and actually had the guts to raise her free hand up to his gun and followed the upper line with the tip of her finger. it felt like a game though. and it felt as if she knew him somehow, his moves, his glare. it all felt incredibly familiar. ‘’I'm better,’’ she said with a casual tone, not particularly agitated by his clever smirk. this smirking business won’t do him any good. ‘’I don’t feel like dropping it. but seriously, you should. at least move it away from my face, pretty please with a cherry on top?’’ she continued while making a step forward, the muzzle now almost pressing into her forehead: ‘’who do you work for, smirkey? you’re not from these parts and this cleanly pressed outfit of yours stands out… why were you following me?’’

‘’yes, you should’ve. if not because I don’t appear to be afraid of you then for that fact that you’ve probably been following me around for more than just today. in that case you know I’m a cop,’’ she continued in the same unrushed tone. there was no place she had to be and she was rather enjoying this game of a mouse and a cat. he just didn’t realize yet that he was the mouse. she was doing the hunting. ‘’really? a pretty face? you’re pissing me off more and more second by second,’’ was her immediate response, because truthfully she hated nothing more than someone making assumptions based on her looks. since she was petite everyone expected her to be frail and weak. yeah right. ‘’you’ve had training. probably military – which is obvious from the way you’re standing as if someone shoved a stick up your anus,’’ at this words she dropped her gun to the ground. if he’ll try to make a move, she won’t need a gun. she knew how to fight. ‘’then there’s that sharp look of yours. eyes drilling holes into me, trying to warn me away…’’ it was her time to smirk now. ‘’once again, who ordered you to follow me?’’ her hand reached up and pushed his gun away with some force. ‘’was it Interpol? DI? CIA? some private contractor? come on, smirkey - work with me - you don’t have to get hurt, just give me some answers,’’ she really will kick his ass if that’ll mean he’ll start talking. the only problem was, that if he belonged to any of previously mentioned agencies, then this tended to get ugly.

‘’you do? really? does your stalking mission also include following me home? watching me through the windows? kinky!’’ she laughed out loud not really outraged by the possibility. he won’t find any dirt on her. she was never connected to her ex-fiancée’s illegal activities, since he kept her completely in the dark. and when she found about all that shit, she tried to run. it didn’t exactly go the way she wanted but she was a decent citizen now. one serving the police force, sure her file was thick due to her connections with government and black ops but nothing shady. ‘’honestly, smirkey. you don’t even have a clue about my skills,’’ she lost a tad of previous laughter. ‘’you won’t kill me, you won’t even hurt me. because all you’re supposed to do is watch me. am I right? so you can’t lay a finger on me…’’ she thought out loud. of course he won’t talk, at least not if he’s smart. and he definitely gave her an impression of someone capable. ‘’I never walk away from problems,’’ now she seemed to be appalled. why would she turn her back to him and just go along? her gun was still on the floor and he really did expect her to just go. however she had different plans. years of active training came handy once more, with a full spin she kicked her leg up, her foot landing on his stomach. it was not meant to kick him to the ground, just give him a slight preview – she wasn’t a tiny minx. she had some vicious skills. ‘’really, smirkey. you pissed me off,’’ she was back in her stance, ready for a possible rematch: ‘’I’m not new to this business… you really want to fight me? are you sure?’’
