she made sure she had an offended look on her face. “do not call me that. and yeah, I know. I just feel like I can do so much more than just… you know, lie here,” she sighed. she was never the type to spend her days being lazy and doing nothing. she always found something to do and got busy; she hated being told that she has to stay in bed and be good and rest. “romance novels? god, just bring me some… I don’t know, agatha christie or james patterson or someone like that. romance novels are such bullshit,” she rolled her eyes and then smiled.

she looked at him with those big eyes of her. some guys called that her ‘sex look’, but she didn’t really care about that. “oh, I didn’t mean to distract you,” she said. she was obviously teasing him now and that meant she felt better. her hand slowly slid down his face. “I am so what?” she wondered and looked at him, awaiting the reply. “besides, I never really wore proper clothing in bed and you know that.” she liked sleeping naked, they both knew that. she placed a soft peck on his lips. “but then again, I know you have work to do, so I should probably not disturb you. it’s not like I can go anywhere either, so I’ll be here.” she smiled at him with one of her lovely smiles and pulled her sheets over her bare legs.

"I was just joking, Emma, dear," he was amused by the horrified look on her face. But seriously, they couldn't be all that far from becoming grandparents. Both of their children were over twenty, Jamie in a quite serious relationship … of course he wouldn't advise him to get her chick pregnant, but it can still happen. However, this wasn't the right time to discuss kids and grandkids, it was time for her to get rest and for him to get back to being productive. "I sort of forgot what kind of books you liked, but I remember now. You always read a lot of Agatha Christie, I should have some of her books, surely," he nodded at her and got ready to walk downstairs and bring her some material.

"Forget about it, we'll discuss your clothes or the lack of them some other time, now it's time for me to get back to reality," he kissed her cheek before leaving the room, but it didn't take him long. He returned with a couple books under his arm and a laptop under another. He then sat down beside her and they stayed like that for quite some time. Jack - doing some work on his computer, and Emma, doing her reading … this kind of day could very well qualify for one of the best in a long time.
